Steyning Kids Triathlon takes place on the Steyning Grammar School playing fields on Saturday 20th August.
Over 200 children, ranging from 8yrs to 16yrs take part across various age categories. There is also an under 7yrs 300m dash at the end of the main racing to make sure that all younger siblings can join the fun too!
A triathlon consists of a swim, a cycle and then a run.
Each activity is segued with what is known as a ‘transition’.
All competitors receive a medal and the top three male and female athletes in each of the competitive categories receive a trophy.
The event is organised by volunteers from Brighton Tri Club and Steyning Athletic Club in association with kidstriuk with a strong aim to make it as fun and inclusive as possible. Families are encouraged to come along and support their children and if the weather is good, to bring a rug and picnic too!
Entries cost £20-£25 via brightontri.org/kidstri.

The real Roundhill Romp trail race returned on Wednesday 6th July, having been virtual in 2020 and 2021.
The 9.5km event is one of the West Sussex Fun Run League series of races. All 17 WSFRL clubs were well represented and, in total, there were members from 54 clubs among the 432 finishers.
The route starts at the Steyning Clocktower; passes Wiston House; climbs to Chanctonbury Ring; follows the South Downs Way to the Farmers Memorial; loops the Upper Horseshoe; descends via the Rifle Range to the Cricket Field finish line.
First to finish was James Baker of Chichester Runners. He won with a time of 34m 06s. This was the tenth time James has won the Romp since 2000.
The first female finisher was Amelia Brown of Worthing Harriers, with a time of 41m 12s.
The Roundhill Romp was preceded by the Mini-Romp race for junior athletes. The roughly 1 mile race is completed within the Cricket Field. Of the 97 runners, there were 43 from Steyning AC.
