Southwater Swim Run Results

August22/ 2011

Well done to all those who took part this evening in the Swim Run at Southwater Lake. This was part of the Multisport Summer Series of events and, despite rain and a gloomy evening, ten Club members completed the event. The approximate distances were 1000m for the Swim and 4 K for the run (2 laps of the lake and 2 laps of the park). Thank you to the helpers who put out signs, installed buoys in the lake, recorded split and finish times, held the umbrella against the rain, and helped to collect in the equipment afterwards.

Adrian proved the fastest overall by 41 seconds, but the splits show interesting differences in speeds over the various parts of the course. The most notable performances came from Lydia (excellent swim, the fastest of all who finished but superbly slow transition), and Nigel (who out-performed Lydia in slow transition) but did a sterling job of swimming in his brand new wetsuit for the first time. Dave Tibbals also surpassed himself on the run, slowly picking people off as he sped past them, but he wasn’t fast enough to catch Mr Brown. Mark Tyler did a grand job advertising the possible new Club tri-suit, which sadly ended up in rather more pieces than when he started. Everyone claimed to have enjoyed themselves, no-one got lost or attacked by swans (always a bonus) and we think we’ll do it all again next summer, but possibly more than once.

Thanks for turning out to support this.
