Brutal Run – Longmoor 28th December

Well, on a chilly bank holiday Monday four of us took part in the Brutal Run at Longmoor. There was an 8k option or a 16k option…. we opted for the 8k ! I the race info they say that the water will only ever be waist deep. They lied and we were nearly neck deep in places !

We were incredibly lucky with the weather; it was dry, not too windy and not too cold. This did mean that after being immersed in water we didn’t quite freeze and eventually managed to get some feeling back in to our feet. I don’t know if you have ever run when your feet have been so cold you can’t feel them but it is an interesting experience !

I think it is fair to say that neither Liz, Ann or myself took the race that seriously and Ollie was always going to beat us… I’ve been trying to run and not make an ankle injury worse, Liz was suffering from the dreaded lurgy and Ann was busy trying not to be taken out by out of control people on the down hills !

Overall we came in at 34,35 & 36 in our age/gender category.. and 277,278 & 279 overall… Ollie came in 21st in his age/gender category and 36th overall whilst recovering from “man-flu” 🙂

These event are great fun to do, just bring a change of clothes and be prepared to get wet & muddy !
