Supporting Sport in the Community

Well we sure got lucky with the weather on Saturday as it was dry and not too much wind around, plus the water conditions were warm enough where we didnt need a wetsuit !!!

16 tough club members turned up to the race and all but one person finished well. Unfortunately an old injury prevented Lee Oxley from finishing his race, so we hope he recovers well and it does not mess up his training.

Well done to Simon Turk and newbie Juliet Starbuck for winning (both on Cervelos – a fine choice I must say!). Juliet just pipped Amanda by a mere 4 seconds, so no doubt Amanda will come back fighting even harder next time… Also in his 2nd Triathlon ever Phil Saunders did well and what with more swim sessions he will be a contender to watch in the future. Another new member was Simon Marsden who posted some nice times especially the swim.

Dont forget if you thought this event was good value for money, then to recommend fellow Steyning AC members about future events like this in 2013. We want to encourage new people to Triathlons and this type of event is the perfect introduction !!

Thanks SO much for all the many volunteers we had, without their input this free fun event could not have been run. A special thanks goes out to Jon Brook for helping me arrange my first event (next time I wont have to bug you as much with different questions etc and maybe in the next event I run I can even impress Adrian Brown if we start on time – or maybe not).

Below are the overall results (note it is NOT weighted to age, so please bare that in mind when you look at your splits). Click on the image to enlarge it….
