At long last we were rewarded with a bright sunny day. Very little wind at the start, but under the hills the temperature was down at -4C, and all the puddles were well iced over.
Most of the course was in good condition, apart from the usual waterlogged field at 4 miles which surprised many people when they broke through the ice. Up on the hilltops conditions were raw, and steadily got worst as the wind strength increased. Some fine times were recorded and most people were surprised at how well they had done.
